HOUSTON – Julep owner Alba Huerta and The Chicken Ranch co-owner Josh Martinez will team up for “Art of the Cocktail at Cherryhurst House,” an evening devoted to blending cocktails, food and art into an immersive experience. It will take place at Cherryhurst House, an innovative new art space in Montrose, on Thursday October 16th from 6:30-9pm.
Limited to an intimate group of 20, participants will have the opportunity to create three different cocktails under Huerta’s instruction that she has chosen specifically for the location, including a special Cherryhurst Cobbler. “In creating the cocktail menu for the evening I took inspiration from the surrounding art and architecture,” said Huerta. “Being given an opportunity to create cocktails at Cherryhurst House is an incredible experience as the space naturally lends itself to be a catalyst for creativity.” Keeping with the theme of Huerta’s love for southern-inspired classics, Martinez will treat guests to his signature fried chicken and sides from The Chicken Ranch, his newest project with co-owner Paul Sedillo.
Guests will have the opportunity to be one of the first inside Cherryhurst House, a spectacularly restored 1920’s bungalow in Montrose that is slated to host regular exhibitions, artist collaborations, salon dinners and special events designed to encourage dialogue about contemporary art and culture. The current exhibition CAMERA ERA, from Cherryhurst House artists-in-residence Project B, is a collection of vintage vernacular photography, recast into large-format archival pigment prints.
Included in the $125 ticket are all three cocktails and dinner, plus a classic “welcome punch” from Huerta, a Cobbler cup, special cocktail recipes, a bottle of Huerta’s limited edition syrup, and other surprises.
