Houston Center for Photography presents its 2015 Print Auction and Exhibition

quarter page PAPERCITY rev2 FINHOUSTON – Houston Center for Photography presents an intriguing exhibition in their galleries running from January 16 – February 16, 2015, cumulating in an elegant evening of art and fundraising at The Junior League of Houston, Inc. on February 18, 2015. Now in its 31st year, HCP’s annual print exhibition and auction features artists, galleries, and collectors from all over the world contributing premier photographic art that is auctioned to benefit HCP’s operating fund. The exhibition and auction features 74 artists from around the globe including a vast catalog of vintage and contemporary fine-art prints from both mid-career and established photographic artists, collected in both the museum and private sectors.
Artists represented include Elliot Erwitt, Ken Rosenthal, Lisa Robinson, Manuel Alvarez Bravo, Laurie Lambrecht, Renate Aller, S. Gayle Stevens, John A. Chakeres, Mitch Dobrowner, David Fokos, and Jeffrey Becom, among many others. All pieces in the exhibition are available for a “buy-it-now” purchase during the exhibition. Cherryhurst House featured in Houston Modern Luxury

Dallas McNamaraThis month’s issue of Houston Modern Luxury features a two-page spread dedicated to Cherryhurst House and owner Dallas McNamara’s vision for her restored 1910’s bungalow in the heart of Houston’s Montrose neighborhood. Through an extensive renovation process, McNamara transformed the home into both her personal residence as well as an alternative art space where she holds exhibitions and special events focusing on the art created out of her on-site artist-in-residency program.

Science: Photography’s Influence on Science and Medicine and Picture This! opens on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 5:30 – 8:00pm (artist talks begin at 6:00pm) at the HCP Gallery located on 1441 W. Alabama. Both exhibitions remain on view November 7 – January 4, 2014. Cherryhurst House and Project B featured in PaperCity Magazine

October PaperCity MagBarrelhouse Media clients Cherryhurst House and Project B were featured in this month’s issue of PaperCity Magazine, highlighting the home’s unique style and concept while also taking note of its current artists-in-residence Project B (a collaboration between artists Barbara Levine and Paige Ramey). PaperCity writer Catherine Anspon spent an afternoon with the duo as they searched for vintage vernacular photography at resale shops in Houston.
