Cherryhurst House featured in Houston Modern Luxury

Dallas McNamaraThis month’s issue of Houston Modern Luxury features a two-page spread dedicated to Cherryhurst House and owner Dallas McNamara’s vision for her restored 1910’s bungalow in the heart of Houston’s Montrose neighborhood. Through an extensive renovation process, McNamara transformed the home into both her personal residence as well as an alternative art space where she holds exhibitions and special events focusing on the art created out of her on-site artist-in-residency program.

Society for the Performing Arts to bring Malaysian Artists to Houston

ALL-LINE-by-Jay-Ismail_800x480Houston, TX – Society for the Performing Arts (SPA), Houston’s leading performing arts presenter, is announcing a partnership with Arts Midwest and the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art to bring the international program Caravanserai: A Place Where Cultures Meet to Houston during the 2014-15 season. This program began in 2010 as an effort to establish a greater understanding between American and Muslim societies. Houston is one of four cities selected to host the fourth season of Caravanserai, featuring dynamic performance artists, filmmakers and musicians from Malaysia. The other host locations include the Piney Woods Fine Arts Association in Crockett, Texas; the Rialto Center for the Arts at Georgia State University in Atlanta; and the University of Florida Performing Arts in Gainesville. HOUSTON (March 3, 2014) – Showing in Houston for the first time during the 2014 FotoFest Biennial, San Francisco-based Project B will present their solo exhibition Camera Era: Freeze Frames from a World Long Gone opening to the public on March 19th at The Raven Grill—1916 Bissonnet St. Co-founded by artists Barbara Levine and Paige Ramey, PROJECT B specializes in the collecting, preservation and publishing of vintage photographs made by unknown photographers. They combine unusual artistic and curatorial practices to their archive of found photos to create one of a kind books and large format pigment prints.
